Baitussalam Masjid School: Faith and Learning at the Heart of the Community

The masjid has always been more than a place of prayer. In the tradition of early Islam, the masjid was the centre of learning, community life, and spiritual development. It was where the Prophet ﷺ taught his companions, where scholars sat with students, and where the community gathered not only to worship but to grow together.

 

Baitussalam Welfare Trust's Masjid School brings this tradition into the present, providing free Quranic and primary education to the children of the community within the blessed environment of the masjid.

 

For families who cannot afford private Islamic schools or tuition, the Masjid School is where their children learn to recite the Quran, understand the basics of Islamic practice, and receive the academic foundation they need. And for parents who want their children to grow up connected to the masjid and the community it represents, there is no better place for that connection to begin.

 

What the Masjid School Provides

Quran Recitation (Nazra) Students learn to read the Quran correctly with basic Tajweed, developing fluency and reverence for the Book of Allah.	Quran Memorisation (Hifz Preparation) Students with aptitude for Hifz are identified and prepared for entry into full Hifz programmes.	Islamic Studies Foundational Islamic education covering the five pillars, basic Fiqh, Seerah, and Islamic morals and manners.
Primary Academics Core subjects including Urdu, English, and basic mathematics taught alongside religious education.	Arabic Introduction Basic Arabic vocabulary and grammar to help children begin understanding the language of the Quran.	Character Development Islamic manners, empathy, honesty, and community responsibility developed through daily example and guided interaction.

 

Who Can Attend?

The Baitussalam Masjid School is open to all children in the local community, with priority given to:

•       Children from low-income households who cannot afford Islamic education elsewhere

•       Children who are not attending any formal school and need a starting point

•       Children whose parents want them to learn Quran recitation alongside basic academics

•       Children within the catchment area of Baitussalam Masjid and associated community mosques

 

Timings and Structure

Classes are offered in morning and afternoon sessions to accommodate children from different school backgrounds. The morning programme is designed for children who do not attend a formal school. The afternoon programme serves children who are already in school and want additional Quranic and Islamic education after hours.
